TEGOSTAB® B 8110 Product Specification Sheet

1. Description

TEGOSTAB® B 8110 is a high-performance silicone-based surfactant developed by Evonik, specifically designed for polyurethane (PU) foam applications. As a medium-activity stabilizer, it boasts high potency and excellent foam cell regulation capabilities, enabling the formation of fine, uniform cell structures in PU foams. This product is VOC-optimized to ensure very low emission profiles, making it environmentally friendly and suitable for modern foam manufacturing requirements. It is particularly compatible with more hydrophobic polyols, including natural oil-based polyols, and offers broad processing latitude, facilitating stable production processes and consistent product quality across various formulations. TEGOSTAB® B 8110 effectively promotes the emulsification of component A, regulates the foam cell formation process, and stabilizes the cells in the foam, thereby enhancing the physical and mechanical properties of the final product.

3. Application

TEGOSTAB® B 8110 is primarily used as a foam stabilizer in the production of flexible polyether PU foams, with a wide range of applications across various industries. Its key application scenarios include:

Flexible Polyether Block Foams: Ideal for continuous and box-type flexible polyether block foams, where it ensures fine cell structure and stable foam formation, improving the foam’s resilience and mechanical strength.

Foams with Physical Blowing Agents: Specifically designed for foams produced using physical blowing agents, leveraging its high potency to maintain foam stability and cell uniformity during the foaming process.

Foams with Hydrophobic Polyols: Particularly suitable for formulations containing more hydrophobic polyols, including natural oil-based polyols, resolving compatibility issues and ensuring consistent foam quality.

General Flexible PU Foam Products: Widely applied in the manufacturing of foam products such as mattresses, furniture cushions, automotive seats, and packaging materials, where fine cell structure and stable performance are required.

The recommended dosage of TEGOSTAB® B 8110 varies according to the specific foam formulation and application requirements, typically ranging from 0.1% to 0.5% of the total formulation weight. It is recommended to conduct small-scale tests to determine the optimal dosage for each specific application.

4. Storage

To maintain the performance and stability of TEGOSTAB® B 8110, the following storage conditions must be strictly followed:

Storage Environment: Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse, away from direct sunlight, high temperatures, and open flames. The storage area should be dust-free, free from corrosive media, and protected from mechanical shock and vibration.

Temperature: The optimal storage temperature range is 15-25℃, and the temperature should not exceed 30℃. High temperatures may cause product degradation, reducing its potency and performance.

Humidity: Maintain a relative humidity of less than 80% in the storage area to avoid moisture absorption, which may affect the product’s emulsification and stabilization performance.

Packaging: Keep the original packaging sealed tightly when not in use to prevent contamination, moisture absorption, or volatilization. Use clean, non-toxic containers when transferring the product to avoid cross-contamination.

Shelf Life: When stored in accordance with the above conditions, TEGOSTAB® B 8110 has a shelf life of 12 months from the date of production. Expired products should be tested for performance before use, and discarded if performance degradation is detected.

Transportation: During transportation, avoid exposure to extreme temperatures, moisture, and mechanical damage. Transport in accordance with the relevant regulations for chemical products, and avoid mixing with incompatible substances.
