1. Description

Catalyst QHA-77 is a high-efficiency liquid tertiary amine catalyst specially developed for polyurethane (PU) manufacturing, designed to deliver a balanced catalytic effect on both the foaming (water-isocyanate urea reaction) and gelation (polyol-isocyanate crosslinking) reactions. It features outstanding reactivity stability, low odor profile, and excellent compatibility with conventional PU raw materials, including polyether polyols, polyester polyols, and isocyanates.

This catalyst ensures smooth foam rising, uniform cell structure, and consistent curing speed, effectively eliminating common processing defects such as foam collapse, shrinkage, and density unevenness. With moderate viscosity and good fluidity, Catalyst QHA-77 enables accurate metering and seamless integration into automated production lines, making it a reliable choice for high-quality PU foam and molding production.

3. Application

Catalyst QHA-77 is a versatile catalyst suitable for a wide range of polyurethane formulations, covering both flexible and rigid foam applications as well as specialty PU products:

  • Flexible PU Foams: Ideal for slabstock foams (mattresses, furniture cushions, bedding) and TDI/MDI-based high-resilience (HR) molded foams (automotive seats, headrests). Improves foam softness, resilience, and surface smoothness.
  • Rigid PU Foams: Applied in insulation foams for refrigeration appliances, building insulation panels, spray foam insulation, and pipe insulation. Enhances thermal insulation performance and structural stability.
  • Specialty PU Products: Suitable for self-skinning foams, microcellular foams (shoe soles), semi-rigid foams (automotive interior trim), and packaging foams. Ensures fast demolding and dimensional stability.
  • It can be used independently or blended with other amine catalysts, organotin catalysts, or blowing agents to adjust reaction kinetics and meet specific performance requirements of different PU systems.


4. Storage & Handling

Storage Conditions

  • Store in sealed original containers in a dry, cool, and well-ventilated warehouse, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, open flames, and static electricity.
  • Recommended storage temperature: 5–30°C. Avoid freezing; if viscosity increases or slight separation occurs at low temperatures, restore homogeneity by gentle heating and stirring before use.
  • Keep separated from strong acids, oxidizing agents, and moisture to prevent catalytic activity degradation and product contamination.
  • Equip storage areas with spill containment facilities and comply with local chemical safety and environmental regulations.

Shelf Life & Handling Precautions

  • Unopened shelf life: 12 months under recommended storage conditions. Conduct performance testing prior to use if expired.
  • Reseal containers immediately after each use to minimize contact with air and moisture.
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment (chemical-resistant gloves, safety goggles, protective clothing) during handling to avoid skin, eye, and respiratory contact.
  • In case of accidental contact: Flush skin/eyes with plenty of clean water for at least 15 minutes; seek medical attention promptly if irritation persists.
