Catalyst QHA-H41 | (DMCHA) Product Data Sheet
Product Name: QHA-H41 |Chemical Name: N,N-Dimethylcyclohexylamine | CAS No.: 98-94-2
Product Category: Tertiary Amine Polyurethane Catalyst | Molecular Formula: C₈H₁₇N
1. Description
Catalyst QHA-H41 is a high-purity, medium-activity tertiary amine catalyst, with N,N-Dimethylcyclohexylamine as its core active component, specifically engineered for polyurethane (PU) foam manufacturing and related industrial applications. It is a low-viscosity, clear to pale yellow liquid with strong catalytic selectivity, primarily accelerating the blowing reaction (isocyanate-water interaction) in PU systems while providing balanced promotion for the gelation reaction (polyol-isocyanate crosslinking).
This product boasts excellent chemical stability, high purity, and superior compatibility with mainstream PU raw materials, including polyether polyols, polyester polyols, isocyanates, and other auxiliary additives. Its unique cyclic molecular structure ensures stable catalytic performance, effectively regulating foam rise speed, optimizing cell uniformity, and reducing common processing defects such as foam collapse, shrinkage, and surface pinholes. Beyond PU foam applications, QHA-H41 also serves as a versatile intermediate in organic synthesis, epoxy resin curing acceleration, rubber vulcanization promotion, and fuel oil stabilization.
2. Specification
The table below lists the typical physical and chemical properties of Catalyst QHA-H41, complying with industrial quality standards and strict quality control requirements, ensuring consistent product performance across batches:
| Test Item | Typical Value | Unit |
|---|

Note: The above values are typical quality control results and do not constitute a binding sales specification. Slight batch-to-batch variations within acceptable industrial limits are normal and do not affect product performance. CAS No. 98-94-2 is the unique identifier for the active ingredient N,N-Dimethylcyclohexylamine. The product may darken slightly during storage without affecting its catalytic activity.

3. Application
Catalyst QHA-H41 is a versatile, high-performance tertiary amine catalyst with broad applicability, mainly focused on polyurethane foam production and other industrial fields, with core advantages in balancing foaming and gelation reactions:
- Rigid Polyurethane Foams: The core application, widely used in insulation foam formulations such as building exterior insulation panels, on-site spray foam insulation, refrigeration equipment (refrigerators, freezers) insulation layers, refrigerated truck insulation, and insulation plates/laminates. It optimizes cell structure, enhances thermal insulation performance, and improves mechanical strength of the foam, and can be used alone or blended with other catalysts.
- Flexible & Semi-Rigid PU Foams: Used as an auxiliary catalyst in molded flexible foams (automotive seats, furniture cushions) and semi-rigid foams, adjusting reaction kinetics to improve product flexibility, resilience, and dimensional stability.
- Microcellular & Integral Skin Foams: Applied in microcellular foam (shoe soles) and integral skin foam (automotive interior trim, handgrips) formulations, promoting fine cell structure and smooth surface finish, and improving processing efficiency.
- Organic Synthesis & Epoxy Resins: Serves as an intermediate in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and dyes; also acts as an epoxy resin curing accelerator, shortening curing time and improving film adhesion, hardness, and chemical resistance.
- Other Fields: Used as a rubber accelerator to promote vulcanization, a fuel oil stabilizer to prevent sludge formation, and a water treatment corrosion inhibitor to reduce metal equipment corrosion.
- It can be used alone as the main catalyst or blended with other amine catalysts to fine-tune reaction rates. The recommended dosage is 0.3–1.5% based on the weight of polyol in PU foam formulations, depending on the specific foam type and performance requirements.
4. Storage & Handling
Storage Conditions
- Store in sealed original containers in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, open flames, and static electricity. The recommended storage temperature is 5–30°C; avoid prolonged exposure to high temperatures to prevent volatilization and oxidation.
- Keep the product isolated from strong acids, oxidizing agents, and moisture to prevent chemical reactions, performance degradation, or contamination. For long-term storage, containers can be filled with nitrogen to avoid oxidation.
- Storage areas must be equipped with spill containment facilities and emergency response materials (adsorption materials, neutralizers) to handle potential leaks, and comply with local chemical safety and environmental regulations. The product is classified as a flammable liquid, so fire prevention measures should be strictly implemented.
Shelf Life & Handling Precautions
- Unopened shelf life: 12 months under recommended storage conditions. Conduct performance testing prior to use if expired. Once opened, use the product within 3 months and reseal tightly after each use to prevent moisture absorption and volatilization.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during handling, including chemical-resistant gloves, safety goggles, a protective coat, and anti-static shoes. Ensure good ventilation in the operation area to avoid inhalation of vapors; use an air-purifying respirator for high-concentration operations.
- In case of accidental contact: Flush skin or eyes with plenty of clean water for at least 15 minutes; seek medical attention promptly if irritation persists. In case of leakage, contain the spill with adsorption materials (such as diatomaceous earth), neutralize if necessary, and dispose of waste in accordance with local hazardous waste regulations.
- Dispose of empty containers and waste liquid properly: clean empty containers thoroughly before disposal, and send waste liquid to a professional hazardous waste treatment agency to avoid environmental pollution.
