QHA-90 Product Specification Sheet

1. Description

QHA-90 is a high-performance, balanced blowing-gel catalyst specifically formulated for the production of flexible polyurethane slabstock foam. It is a modified triethylenediamine (TEDA)-based composite tertiary amine catalyst, engineered to deliver superior catalytic efficiency in methylene chloride (MC) blown foam systems. With 1.4 times the catalytic activity of Dabco 33LV, Dabco CS90 allows for a 40% reduction in dosage while maintaining equivalent or improved foam performance.

This catalyst effectively balances the water-isocyanate blowing reaction and the polyol-isocyanate gelation reaction, ensuring stable foam formation, uniform cell structure, and excellent process tolerance. It enhances foam openness, air permeability, and softness, making it suitable for a wide range of flexible foam applications, including medium-to-high density foams, high-resilience (HR) foams, and viscoelastic (memory) foams. Dabco CS90 is fully compatible with most conventional blowing agents, organotin catalysts, and polyol systems, ensuring seamless integration into existing production processes.

3. Application

3.1 Primary Application Fields

  • Flexible Polyurethane Slabstock Foam: Primarily used in methylene chloride (MC) blown flexible box foams, suitable for furniture cushions, mattress cores, and packaging foams.
  • High-Resilience (HR) Foams: Improves cell uniformity and mechanical properties, ideal for high-end mattresses, automotive seats, and medical cushions.
  • Viscoelastic (Memory) Foams: Enhances foam softness, resilience, and dimensional stability, widely applied in memory foam mattresses and pillows.
  • Medium-to-High Density Foams: Ensures stable processing and uniform density, suitable for sound insulation foams, shock-absorbing foams, and industrial cushions.

3.2 Key Performance Advantages

  • High catalytic efficiency: 1.4 times more active than Dabco 33LV, reducing dosage by 40% for cost savings.
  • Balanced blowing-gel reaction: Prevents foam collapse, shrinkage, or corner cracking during production.
  • Improved foam quality: Enhances cell openness, air flow rate, and softness,提升 user comfort.
  • Excellent compatibility: Works well with all common blowing agents (MC, water, HFCs) and organotin catalysts (e.g., Dabco T-9).
  • Strong process tolerance: Adapts to variations in raw material quality and production conditions, reducing production defects.

3.3 Recommended Dosage

Dosage range: 0.1–0.5 phr (parts per hundred parts polyol). The specific dosage should be adjusted based on the following factors:

  • Water content in the polyol system (higher water content may require slightly more catalyst).
  • Isocyanate index (adjust dosage accordingly for different isocyanate types).
  • Co-catalyst system (reduce dosage when used with organotin catalysts).
  • Typical dosage: 60% of Dabco 33LV dosage to achieve equivalent foam performance.

4. Storage

4.1 Storage Conditions

  • Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse with a temperature range of 5–35°C (41–95°F).
  • Avoid direct sunlight, high temperatures (above 40°C), and open flames to prevent product degradation.
  • Keep away from strong acids, oxidants, and other incompatible substances.

4.2 Container and Handling

  • Keep the product in sealed original drums to prevent moisture absorption, contamination, and volatilization.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during handling, including chemical-resistant gloves, goggles, and protective clothing.
  • Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothing. In case of contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water for 15–20 minutes and seek medical attention if necessary.

4.3 Shelf Life

When stored in accordance with the above conditions, the shelf life of QHA-90 is 12 months from the date of manufacture. Expired products should be tested for performance before use, or disposed of in accordance with local environmental regulations.

4.4 Transportation

Transport as a non-dangerous chemical (UN number: Not classified). Avoid mixing with incompatible substances during transportation. Protect the containers from collision, extrusion, and exposure to sunlight or rain.
