QHAD-17(Catalyst BL-17)Product Details
Description
QHAD-17(Catalyst BL-17) is an acid-blocked, delayed-action tertiary amine catalyst primarily formulated for polyurethane (PU) foam systems. Derived from bis(N,N-dimethylaminoethyl) ether, it features a controlled reaction profile that delays the initial PU foaming process, enabling sufficient time for complete mold filling while accelerating curing as temperature rises during reaction. Its acid-blocked structure suppresses early catalytic activity, preventing premature foaming and improving flowability in formulations. The product is a clear, amber liquid with complete water solubility, compatible with most common PU polyols and additives.

Application
QHAD-17(Catalyst BL-17)is engineered for non-recoverable rigid PU foams and energy-absorbing rigid foam applications, where delayed catalysis and uniform cell structure are critical. Key uses include:
- Automotive Components: Energy-absorbing rigid foam parts (e.g., steering wheels, instrument panels, NVH insulation) and structural foam components requiring precise mold filling and consistent surface curing.
- Extrusion Blow Molding (EBM): Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and rigid PU foam systems for packaging, insulation, and structural parts, where delayed reaction ensures uniform melt flow and reduces surface defects.
- Specialized Foam Systems: High-density rigid foams for construction panels, refrigeration insulation, and industrial equipment, where balanced flow and final cure are essential for mechanical performance.
- Formulation Synergy: Compatible with conventional PU catalysts (e.g., DABCO® 33-LV) to tailor reaction rates; ideal for partial replacement of fast-blow catalysts to optimize processing windows.
Storage
- Storage Conditions: Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and incompatible materials (strong oxidizers, strong acids). Maintain container tightly sealed to prevent moisture absorption and contamination.
- Temperature Range: Recommended storage temperature is 15–30 °C (59–86 °F). Avoid exposure to temperatures above 35 °C (95 °F), which may accelerate acid-block dissociation and reduce shelf life.
- Shelf Life: When stored under proper conditions, the product has a minimum shelf life of 24 months from the date of manufacture. Unused portions should be resealed immediately to maintain performance.
- Safety Precautions: Handle with protective equipment (nitrile gloves, safety goggles, respiratory protection) to avoid skin/eye contact and inhalation of vapors. Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for detailed handling and emergency procedures.
